This video discusses the difference between being a resident or a visitor concerning the Internet. A resident has a constant and continual online presence, while the visitor simply logs on to do what he or she must, and then is off. In education it is vital to have a resident’s perspective when it comes to the Internet. Students today have constant and continual access to the Internet through various devices. Students should be encouraged to use their access for educational purposes. Such will serve as a way to make students’ time on the Internet productive and conducive to their education. We need to teach students how to be productive residents of the Internet, because undoubtedly they already are residents through the platforms of social media. However, students must have residence online that highlights educational and productive achievements.
